How do deposits work?
Deposits are fully refundable at the end of the year.
You are making a deposit to BearBills in case you decide to not pay what you owe. But because of BearBills' relationship with the electric company you will have no deposit with them.
Your deposit is entirely independent of your roommates. Even if they mess up, your deposit is safe and refundable.
Deposits will be $30 per person
$15 will be charged to each persons' first 2 bills, totaling $30.
Deposit Grace! No one else has it. You will never lose your deposit with BearBills as long as you are in good standing with us. If you are late paying you will just have to pay a late and/or service fee, but will still not lose your deposit.
If you are in good standing with us at the end of your contract, you will get your deposit back, guaranteed!

What if my roommate is late paying?
We'll notify them and each of their roommates. If won't affect anyone else in the “house”. They will simply have to pay the late fee associated with being late.
What if my roommate doesn’t pay?
If any person in a “house” does not pay their bill for 10 days, they will forfeit their deposit and discontinue service with BearBills. Then the others who did pay have a decision to make.
1. Choose to continue with BearBills and split up the non-paying roommate's share between them for each month moving forward. (I.e. 4 roommates to begin. 25% share each. After 1 defaults, the 3 remaining will pay a 33% share each month from then on).
2. Choose to discontinue service with BearBills. Each roommate in good standing with us will receive their deposit back!

What if the place I will live at has a utility included in the rent?
That's no problem. BearBills is about 2 main things: simplifying your bill-paying needs and simplifying your relationships with your roommates. Even if 1 bill is included, our service still adds simplicity to both of these areas of your life.
